Rave On & On & On

Want me to talk about my nightlife, Jarvis Cocker already made it a few years ago

Oh is this the way they say the future's meant to feel?
Or just 20,000 people standing in a field.
And I don't quite understand just what this feeling is.
But that's okay cos we're all sorted out for E's and wizz.
And tell me when the spaceship lands cos all this has just got to mean something.

In the middle of the night,
it feels alright,
but then tommorow morning.
Oh then you come down.

Oh yeah the pirate radio told us what was going down.
Got the tickets from some fucked up bloke in Camden Town.
Oh and no-one seems to know exactly where it is.
But that's okay cos we're all sorted out for E's and wizz.
At 4 o'clock the normal world seems very, very, very far away.
Alright.

In the middle of the night,
it feels alright,
but then tommorow morning.
Oh then you come down.

Just keep on moving...
Everybody asks your name,
they say we're all the same and it's "nice one,"
"geezer"
but that's as far as the conversation went.
I lost my friends, I dance alone,
it's six o'clock, I wanna go home.
But it's "no way," "not today,"
makes you wonder what it meant.
And this hollow feeling grows and grows and grows and grows,
and you want to phone your mother and say,
"Mother, I can never come home again,
cos I seem to have left an important part of my brain somewhere,
somewhere in a field in Hampshire."
Alright.

In the middle of the night,
it feels alright,
but then tommorow morning.
Oh then you come down.

What if you never come down?

Lyrics : Jarvis Cocker from Pulp Lp "Different Class"

Let's get WILD

Some people have a list of things to do in their life like jumpin' from an airplane or havin' a threesome. My own list reduced every year as I try to live my life intensively but there was a goal which stayed at the top of it since a long time : playin' in Berlin !
It's soon time to erase it as my friends from Les paysages Electroniques invited me to play at the famous Maria Am Ufer. It was the 1st club I visited in this crazy city some years ago, dark, massive and with an explosive crowd. Can't wait to be behind the decks spinnin' for the berliners and all the friends who'll make the trip with me. Also great to play again alongside Housemeister and with Lille's artists such as Genjini & Afrojaws. And to finish the party expect us at Panorama Bar ! Gonna be a wild week end !

Track of the month

March playlist will soon be on line but I've no doubt concerning my favorite EP : "Hui Buh" on the berlin based platform Lebensfreude. You may have already noticed this label with the releases of Ruede Hageslstein with the great project "Dog vs Dog". This time the fire walks with Jakob Seidensticker & Lexgold who made a fantastic track, hard to describe as it covers lots of styles, dub, techno, electro. Can't wait to play it and blow the mind of the audience by spinning it ! Listen to it on the duo myspace hereunder.

Beautiful looser ... part 2

Another lost hero which disapeared so early but hey that's just the way it is baby. Patrick Dewaere is probably one of the most talented actor of the french cinema. Even 20 years after its dead this man is still in my mind when I think about actor's studio monsters such as Al Pacino or Robert De Niro. It seems that the term "borderline" was made for him, mixing his real life to his actor game he lost himself through it.

Have a look on this extract of "Serie Noire" from Alain Corneau, a trip into the darkest part of man's soul in a world of fascinating loosers.

Good for the health ... or the eyes

Ok friends here we talk mainly about culture but hey there are also impressive things in sports. So for one time let's highlight one of the most impressive exhibition in the US : the dunk contest at the All Star Game. Just watch this it's pure art and superman himself came for a visit !

There was a time ... No Future

There was a time when punk was at its top, 1977, the year of my birth. Never thought that it was an interesting time concerning music but what happened just after was definitely ! “Rip It Up And Start Again” explains brilliantly these post punk times. Written by an ex Melody Maker journalist, Simon Reynolds, here’s the perfect description of what succeeded to the punk storm from 1978 to 1984. The beginnings of John Lydon alone with PIL, the US industrials Devo & Pere Ubu, the changes in the british music industry with Mute & Do It Yourself, the arty scene with Talking Heads & Wire, all the bands from Sheffield & Manchester, Throbbing Gristle, the No Wave NY scene, New Pop, Synthpop … everything you always wanted to know about this period is filled in this great book which will make you go back into your discography and also discovered things you’ll never supposed to exist ! One advice : Go & buy it ... or steal it ! That would sticks perfectly with the suject !

Nowadays in France we live a strange situation, you may hav' noticed if u're abroad, we have a president, Nicolas Sarkozy who is qualified of "bling bling". Never thought we'll be in this situation. The worst is that the press is getting completely mad about him and more precisely of his private life. Today an interview of his new bling bling wife was published in "L'express", I read it one minute ago and i thought that France is really turning wrong. Hopefully there's one man who understands everything ... our savior, enjoy !

Pale blue eyes ... full of tears

Sad sad sad news, just after the fantastic story of Jerome Kerviel here's another great one from the financial area. I do think it's even worst than the Societe Generale scandal cos' it touched one of my teenage idol, just read this ... and cry on the gool old rock n' roll

For once this article is not in english as it was written by Nathalie Leruch

Taste the snails !

One of the main reason which made me want to throw parties was to share a good dinner with some of my heroes. Havin' the time to exchange about music & life and sometimes discoverin' really touching guys. One of the man I had a very special time with is Billy Nasty. He came to visit us on December 1st 07 for a Dviason night and blow our headz with a crazy set and a crazy "coup de fourchette" as we said here. Being in France makes it easier as we've definitely the best food in the world and as real frenchies we're always proud to offer a great meal to our guests and believe me it's fun to make taste some snails to a brit pal ! Billy we want u back !

Here are recordings of this Dviason night, Billy played from 3 to 5'30 and then we played back to back with Lutezo till the end (expect dark minimal from us at this kind of hour ...)

I choosed my way, so I think ...

RIP

A very special mix from Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris, now based in London with another great french producer Danton Eeprom. They fomed together the "bancale bancale" studio, let's hope some genius stuff. They will be at rex Club on 2nd of february, so do I !

Batcave Groove

Gorgeous footage by Lidia Terki of Chloe "Be Kind To Me", from her debut LP "The Waiting Room".
Electronic music on album format is most of the time boring, only few tracks to really get mad on, no coherency, no story to tell but Chloé definitely did it brillantly !
You can only fall in love with this bancal electronic folk, right from Kill The Dj, 2 steps ahead in the mental and deviant groove !
